Cristina D. Ramírez has conducted extensive research throughout Mexico in non-digitized archives, such as in Durango, Guanajuato, and Oaxaca. Her expertise is in Mexican feminist history, particularly tied to Mexican female journalists from 1875-1942. Her first book, Occupying our Space: The Mestiza Rhetorics of Mexican Women Journalists and Activist, 1875-1942 won a national outstanding book prize (2016), and her second book is an extension of the bilingual primary document research for the first book, co-authored with Jessica Enoch, Mestiza Rhetorics: An Anthology of Mexicana Activism in the Spanish Language Press, 1875-1922 is forthcoming 2019.
