Reporting to the Associate Dean of the University Libraries, the Open Educational Resources (OER) Strategist leads the University Libraries (UL) efforts to support all aspects of BGSU’s faculty adoption, adaptation, and creation of open educational resources through advocacy, training, and outreach. The OER Strategist will serve as the campus liaison for open educational resource topics and work collaboratively to guide BGSU faculty in the discovery, creation, dissemination, identification, adoption, and assessment of open and affordable learning materials. Creates resources and develops programming related to the adoption, adaptation, and creation of OER.
- Leads the UL’s open educational resources (OER) initiatives and related strategic planning initiatives. Serves as the campus liaison for OER issues in support of teaching, learning, and research at BGSU. Work collaboratively to guide BGSU faculty in the discovery, creation, dissemination, identification, adoption, and assessment of open and affordable learning materials. Creates resources and develops programming related to the adoption, adaptation, and creation of OER. Provides consultations, workshops, and presentations to university community members on OER-related related topics. Collaborates with UL faculty and staff on OER and textbook affordable learning engagement activities for campus faculty. In partnership with the Associate Dean of University Libraries, develops assessments of OER initiatives.
- Manages the UL OER grant programs. Hosts UL’s annual Intro to Open Textbook Workshop and participates in UL and OhioLINK affordable learning initiatives. Collaborates with UL faculty and staff on OER and affordable learning engagement initiatives. Builds partnerships with internal and campus stakeholders to support OER adoption.
- Collaborates with the Scholarly Communication Strategist on copyright issues related to Creative Commons licensing. Coordinates hosting of faculty-created open teaching and learning materials as part of UL OER grant program initiatives. Assists with ScholarWorks as assigned.
- Serves as liaison and advocate for open educational resources and affordable learning initiatives at the regional (i.e., Open Education Network), state (i.e., OhioLINK), and national levels. Serves as a member of University Libraries committees as assigned.
Education:
Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited program required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application
Experience:
3 years’ experience with project management - required

- Demonstrated presentation and outreach skills.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Working knowledge of copyright and Creative Commons licensing (preferred)
- Teaching or instructional design experience (preferred).
