The GSUSA Collection & Archive includes objects and records that reflect the history of the oldest and largest extant women-led organization in the United States, thus serving as a window into the role and agency of women in our country from the early 19th century to the present. The Collection spans centuries, genres, styles, and formats (including digital) and includes corporate records, personal writings, ephemera, media, scrapbooks, fine and decorative arts, farm and camp equipment, furnishings, textiles, sculpture, jewelry, silver, international gifts, product and memorabilia, awards and recognitions, and Girl Scouts uniforms, badges, and insignia, as well as personal letters and writings of significant people associated with the Movement, such as Juliette Gordon Low, GSUSA Founder. The Collection, interpreted to the public and fully aligned and supporting the strategic priorities and mission of GSUSA, is located in and embodied at National Headquarters, New York, NY, the Edith Macy Conference Center, Briarcliff Manor, NY, and the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, Savannah, GA.

You Will:

Collection Research Intern
 

Candidates should be based in the Savannah area as this role is in office 5 days per week. This is a full-time role for about 35 hours per week from June - August.
 

The Collection Research intern will focus on the research, planning, and development of GSUSA Archive & Collection related posts for the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace's social media. This role is responsible for researching the collection and creating interesting content from our platforms. Using archive resources like personality profiles, artifact highlights, and historical photographs, this role will craft evergreen copy that can be used for the remainder of the year.

Required Competencies:

  • Project management
  • Familiarity with Girl Scouts a plus

You Need:

  • Must currently be enrolled in a full-time Bachelors program and graduating between December 2023 and June 2025.
  • Preference is for a bakcground in history, historical preservation, art history, archival management, library science, public history, museum studies, or a related field
  • Strong academic record

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional museum environment.
 
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday with a 35 hour per week schedule.

SALARY RANGE:$13.00 - 15.00 per hour
