Description

This summer, Meals on Wheels America will host interns to add capacity and help fulfill our mission. All interns will be an integral part of the organization and will receive individualized attention and professional mentorship. They will be a part of the team during an important time of organizational growth and evolution and will have a hand in some of the major transition projects. All interns will meet bimonthly to discuss projects and share insights. At the end of the internship period, each intern will make a brief presentation to the entire staff about their experience and what they accomplished. Additional training and professional development opportunities will be made available throughout the internship.

 

Meals on Wheels America prides itself on having a vibrant and healthy culture that is both professional and fun. Interns will be able to participate in regular social activities with the staff as well as attend staff meetings and briefings.

 

Timing

The internship will begin in late May/early June, all interns are expected to commit a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 24 hours per week, depending on the internship design, for a period of 8 - 10 weeks. Business hours are 9am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday, Eastern time. The schedule will be flexible and will allow for time off as needed.

The Meals on Wheels America office is closed for renovations this summer so most work will be done in a hybrid work environment, working from home most of the time while occasionally working from temporary office accommodations at or near our office building at 1550 Crystal Drive, Arlington VA (accessible from the Crystal City Metro stop on the Blue and Yellow metro lines).

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The summer intern will assist in organizing our growing collection of photos and videos. The successful candidate will work with our marketing and communications teams to ensure that our digital asset library is up-to-date, easily accessible, and well organized. The ideal candidate should be passionate about media management and have excellent organizational skills. They will report to our Brand Manager. Meals on Wheels America prides itself on having a vibrant and healthy culture that is both professional and fun. Interns will be able to participate in virtual activities with all staff as well as join in relevant meetings and briefings.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Organize and maintain the organization's digital asset library, including photos and videos.
  • Ensure that all assets are properly labeled, categorized, and tagged for easy searching and retrieval.
  • Assist in identifying duplicates, outdated content, and irrelevant assets and remove them from the library.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to understand their asset needs and provide support to ensure that assets are available to them in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining a standardized file naming convention and metadata schema.
  • Provide training and support to staff members on how to use the digital asset library.
  • Help develop and implement policies and procedures for the digital asset library.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED

 

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to media management, library science, or a related field
  • Familiarity with digital asset management tools and software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Dropbox, or Google Drive
  • Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • An interest in photography and videography is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative.

Pay Rate
