Position Highlights The University of Arizona Libraries (UAL) seeks a creative, collaborative Electronic Resources Coordinator to manage electronic collections in the health sciences for the UA Health Sciences Library and the Arizona Health Information Network (AZHIN). The Electronic Resources Coordinator will 1) collaborate with UAL staff, AZHIN members, and vendors to develop and support a suite of resources and tools available to AZHIN members, including databases, electronic journals, electronic books, point of care tools, SpringShare products, and OpenAthens, and 2) identify and support access to electronic resources in the health sciences for University of Arizona Libraries. The incumbent will also play a key role in supporting the development and effectiveness of the AZHIN consortium as directed by the UAHSL Associate Director and the AZHIN President and Board of Directors. This work includes assisting AZHIN members in procuring, accessing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic resources licensed by AZHIN. Duties include investigating products, working with vendors, setting up trials, training AZHIN members, monitoring and assessing resource use, and supporting AZHIN members.

The Electronic Resources Coordinator also works with UAL Collection Services and health sciences liaison librarians to identify, evaluate, acquire, and support licensed e-resources specific to the health sciences.

Duties & Responsibilities

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Identify, evaluate, and acquire electronic resources in the health sciences in collaboration with UAL staff and AZHIN members, with a focus on resources to be licensed by AZHIN. Work with vendors to obtain pricing and negotiate license terms (with staff from UAL Collection Services) and share this information with AZHIN members to support decision-making.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot access issues for electronic resources in the health sciences, especially those licensed by AZHIN. Work with AZHIN members, vendors, UAL staff, and HSL administration as needed to resolve issues and ensure access. Triage and respond to request tickets from AZHIN members.
  • Collaborate closely with UAL Collection Services staff on licensing, acquisitions, access/authentication, and invoicing for resources purchased/licensed by UAL, including those obtained through AZHIN.
  • Maintain the AZHIN website in collaboration with other AZHIN staff.
  • Meet with AZHIN members regularly to assess needs, address issues, and identify opportunities for improving AZHIN resources, services, and support for members and end users.
  • Cultivate relationships among AZHIN members to strengthen the benefits of the consortium.
  • Design and deliver training for members to help them access and use AZHIN e-resources and tools (e.g., ebooks, ejournals, OpenAthens, and SpringShare) effectively.
  • Work with the Associate Director to create marketing materials to promote AZHIN to potential, new, and existing members. Manage any necessary follow-up with institutions expressing interest in joining AZHIN.
  • Work with the AZHIN Board of Directors and AZHIN Program Coordinator to prepare materials for AZHIN meetings.
  • Work with HSL Director, liaison librarians, and UAL Collection Services on collection development for HSL.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to support electronic collections throughout the electronic resources lifecycle: discovery, trial, selection, acquisition and licensing, configuration and implementation (including authentication and remote access), troubleshooting, assessment, and renewal/cancellation.
  • Knowledge of related technologies, including library discovery tools (e.g., library catalogs, indexes, discovery services) and internet search engines and their appropriate use
  • Knowledge of health sciences information resources, tools, vocabulary, and research techniques and how health information is delivered, managed, and used.
  • Understanding of SpringShare products (LibAnswers, LibGuides) and OpenAthens.
  • Sensitivity to the unique needs of users in rural or medically underserved areas.
  • Ability to learn new skills, especially related to changing technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Skill in facilitating meetings and delivering presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing electronic resources in a library setting, preferably health sciences, including use of remote access tools such as OpenAthens and/or EZProxy.
  • Experience working in a health sciences library and using health sciences reference and research tools (e.g., databases, library catalogs, indexes, discovery services).
  • Experience identifying, evaluating, and acquiring electronic resources.
  • Experience troubleshooting technology, including hardware, software and equipment.
  • Experience designing and delivering online training content.
  • Experience creating marketing materials.
