What the intern expects to learn from this assignment:

Archive principles in an institutional/corporate setting

Cataloging

Digitizing newsletters, meeting minutes, and other documents

Research and reference skills; written and verbal communication skills

What major projects or activities the intern will be involved with:

Working to provide greater visibility of the Gartner Pediatric History Center and to deliver wider access to the AAP Archives and Special Collections, the Archives Intern will gain hands on experience with both analog and digital records. Opportunities include traditional processing of organizational records, original Dublin Core cataloging of organizational records, writing and publishing finding aids, research, and digitization.

Skills needed:

Must be detail oriented as processing records is very precise

Ability to work independently after receiving thorough instructions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Coursework in archives, museums, or public history required

June 5, 2023- August 15, 2023, 4 days a week, 6 hours a day

Other information:

Internships are paid $20/hr * unless requirements from school or grant of project prohibits pay

The work environment is hybrid. Preference would be for interns to be on site in our Itasca office 40% of their internship time. Fully remote internships will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
